Chicken with Egg Fried Noodles

One dish meal is such a food item, with which no other side dish is required, i.e it's a kind of complete dish itself. This week KFB featuring Chitrangada who blogs at colorandspices and this week's topic is 'One Pot Meals'. Khichdi,Pulao, Biryani,Pasta and Noodle recipes can be perfect examples of one pot meals.Among them Khichdi is known to be a very good and healthy food and can be consumed daily and I'm sure that many moms make it for their lils , when they are in hurry (to be honest I do it almost daily at school time).
But the great Sundays demands are something different .So last Sunday I made my lil's favourite Chicken with egg Noodles, that my daughter use to call 'ghuma chaw'.The story behind it like this......
There is a food corner named REENA near our home. We really like their chawmin, and is a special demand of my daughter every time. She renamed it as 'ghuma chaw' as she thinks it will make her falling asleep very quickly. Last Sunday I prepared it especially on her request and felt happy to satisfy my little angel. So just try it your own and I must mention that it has not been taken from any particular noodle recipe.

Quick and Simple Microwave Chicken Curry

Are you in hurry? Do you need quick cooking along with other household chores? Then obviously you should go with microwave cooking .I love it yet for some reason I rarely use micro for daily based cooking. Mainly I use this for quick heating of refrigerated foods like others.
Before some days, during summer vacation few of my lil’s school mom's arranged a potluck party for a change and enjoyment for our naughty kids. Where one of our friends had brought chicken curry, rather it should better to say pre-cooked marinated chicken in a micro proof container. We all gathered at one of the friends place and while we were gossiping she put the bowl in micro oven and set the timer. Within half an hour it became ready to serve and really it was turned out awesome. The chicken pieces were cooked well from inside well. Since it was especially for kids, my friend ignored green chillies. All kids enjoyed it a lot. We, elders also loved this recipe.

Today I am just presenting this recipe with few changes and adding green chillies for the on-going online event organized by Kolkata Food Bloggers to feature out one of our co-blogger friends, Indrani from Recipe Junction .This unique event is a series of theme based cooking, where one of our KFBian will make a rule for a particular type of cooking and others have to follow rule every alternate week. So this simple and easy microwave dish had not been taken from any blog or had not followed recipe of any particular chef, rather from a mom chef who always try to invent and introduce a new recipe for their loved ones

·       Chicken with bone (preferred small chicken or chicken pieces from that portion which is soft) -500 grams.

Method:

·       Wash and clean chicken pieces. Then marinade with all mentioned ingredients except oil and chopped onion. Refrigerate for at least 1/2 an hour.
·       Take a big micro wave proof bowl. Put oil and chopped onion and mix well. Micro at high power for 3 minutes.
·       Then add whole Garam masala and bay leaf and micro at high power for 50 seconds. Pull the bowl out.
·       Next add marinated chicken and mix well.
·       Covering with a lid or aluminium foil put it in to micro oven and cook at high power for 15 minutes.

A fantastic afternoon at 'Au bon pain' - Park Street, Kolkata

Getting down from Park Street Metro station two roads are divided, one Main JN road toward Shakespeare Sharani and the other toward Park Street, and within few steps(5 mins walking) you will find this nice and glamorous place ’Au Bon Pain’( just opposite foot of The Park Hotel).

The easiest way to be found by any one specially music lovers is the place where Music World previously used to be. This nostalgic and strategic location makes the place even more attractive for Tourists and visitors.

I spent a nice Saturday afternoon on invitation with few of my co-blogger friends at the new menu launch of ‘Au bon Pain’.

Just at the entrance, at the top of the main gate a big poster was hanging, which said  ‘Unlimited flavored tea at just Rs.50/-’,
It was very interesting and I just asked out of curiosity to one of the serving boys ‘is this a temporary offer?’ and I got the answer ‘No’, this is a permanent one. That is for tea lovers a perfect place to have a taste of different flavoured tea for merely 50 bucks, really interesting.

Slowly we took our seats and felt relaxed within a few moment. I must mention this is because of their warm welcome and nice seating arrangement with sofas. Sitting  comfortably and sipping mango cooler made us cool, when I am mentioning about cooler,I settled down for the afternoon. The mango cooler is also on for  unlimited flavored drinks at just Rs.69/-.

For snacks the items we ordered were ‘Keema Kouign-Amann’ and ‘Cone-Wich’. The chicken keema stuffing of ‘Keema Kouign-Amann’ was spicy, yummy and was super fresh. The upper layer bread of the ‘Cone-wich’ was very crunchy.

You have lots of option on this Cone-Wich with ‘Mushroom Eggplant’ and ‘Tandoori Paneer’, all added as new menu items.

Must mention the secret behind their freshness is because of the live bakery which is visible through glass panel separation.

We also tasted ‘Peri Peri Chicken Wings’ and newly added ‘Asian Noodle Salad’ which is a sesame ginger noodles on a bed of greens with almonds, carrots, spring onions and chicken.

The herbs rice with ‘Tofu Thai curry’ was also good and I found the tofu was very soft from inside and the curry was mild spicy. For desert, Brownies was bit fudgy and was perfect in taste.

      The place is really happening and is a place for real adda with friends or to spend a nice afternoon with your family;
the upper balcony is a special place where you have a chance to stare at the cool outside view while you are grabbing some chocolate muffin with hot tea or coffee. The side walls painted nicely makes the place even beautiful.
So, as a conclusion this place is very easy accessible with a cool ambiance and a whole lot of menu items. A perfect café, one cannot miss it.
